For both, appropriate background research and hypotheses must be provided, however the short paper format is more suited to smaller contributions that do not require the space of a longer paper or a lengthy exploration of related work. The committee will take into account the selected length of papers when making judgement on the validity of each contribution.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<div style='padding-bottom:10px; ' class='av-special-heading av-special-heading-h2 meta-heading    '><h2 class='av-special-heading-tag '  itemprop=\"headline\"  >FORMAT<\/h2><div class='special-heading-border'><div class='special-heading-inner-border' ><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>All submissions should follow the ACM guidelines. We invite the submission of anonymized 7,000-9,000 word Long Papers or 3,500-5,500 word Short Papers in <a href=\"https:\/\/tvx.acm.org\/2019\/submission-templates\/\">New SIGCHI Proceedings Format<\/a>\u00a0with 150 word abstract. Authors also must specify the key area of the submission (out of the areas indicated in the conference topics) and keywords. For details on how to calculate your word limit, please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/tvx.acm.org\/2019\/submission-templates\/\">submission templates<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<div style='padding-bottom:10px; ' class='av-special-heading av-special-heading-h2 meta-heading    '><h2 class='av-special-heading-tag '  itemprop=\"headline\"  >REVIEW PROCESS<\/h2><div class='special-heading-border'><div class='special-heading-inner-border' ><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><h3>Double-blind Review<\/h3>\n<p>Please prepare your paper in a way that preserves the anonymity of the authors, otherwise the paper will be immediately rejected. This includes removing (rather than obscuring) authors\u2019 names below the title, avoiding phrases such as \u2018our previous work\u2019 when referring to earlier publications, removing acknowledgment information (e.g., co-workers and grant IDs) and providing links to websites that may identify the authors.<\/p>\n<h3>Originality<\/h3>\n<p>Material submitted to ACM TVX must be original. By submitting a manuscript to the conference, the authors guarantee it has not been previously published, or accepted for publication in substantially similar form. No paper containing significant overlap can be submitted to other conferences or journals during the review period. Please view the basic <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acm.org\/publications\/policies\/sim_submissions\/\">ACM policies<\/a> and be advised to revise beyond them; these are subjective measures left to the interpretation and judgment of the reviewers and committee members.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<div style='padding-bottom:10px; ' class='av-special-heading av-special-heading-h2 meta-heading    '><h2 class='av-special-heading-tag '  itemprop=\"headline\"  >SELECTION PROCESS<\/h2><div class='special-heading-border'><div class='special-heading-inner-border' ><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Papers are expected to significantly contribute to the field of TV and online video. The contribution has to be original, novel and identify how it advances the state-of-the-art (citing the most appropriate references). The paper has to be clear, well written and structured, and easy to understand. Also, the paper must detail the methodology used for answering the research questions, justify its adequacy, and ensure the validity of the presented results.<\/p>\n<p>Content will be rigorously reviewed by members of the program committee and peer experts. Each paper will receive feedback in the form of at least three peer review reports.<\/p>\n<p>The final selection will be made by the Technical Program Committee based on the review reports, rebuttal and meta-review. The program committee reserves the right to ask authors for specific changes as a precondition to publication.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AUTHORS TAKE NOTE: The official publication date is the date the proceedings are made available in the <a href=\"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/\">ACM Digital Library<\/a><\/strong><strong>. This date may be up to two weeks prior to the first day of the actual conference. Recipients of mentoring would typically be those who are submitting to TVX for the first time, those in circumstances which are particular adverse (e.g. a disability or personal circumstances which impact upon the paper preparation process), or a particularly novel submission which may require additional input. The ACM Europe Council Best Paper Awards recognize authors of outstanding technical contributions to ACM conferences taking place in Europe.
